The architecture programme for the 2017 Biennial of Contemporary Art of Maia was based on the consolidation of the memory of the site through the challenge of transforming and exploring form (as an architectural and urban matter) from the fields of Architecture and Art.
This privileged laboratory – the one of thinking and acting on the specific territory of Maia city in a short space of time, such is an event as a biennial – allowed, through the crossing of these practices, speeches and reflections, to frame the programme for Architecture as a metaphor for the contemporary issues.
In a more permanent way and provoking the tangible limits inherent in the practices of the invited artists and architects, took up the discussion about the urban imaginary, about the places of exchange of the city, about the way of thinking the identity processes in the preservation of material culture, on the city as a social expression of progress, on the society of the spectacle, on spaces of confrontation and contamination, on public art as a tool for the reconstitution of the public space, on the sense of belonging, experience, memory and appropriation.
